Feeding the ducks on a Friday

Every Friday at 5pm Marilee and Ethan pick me up from work and we go on a family date. Usually this means getting a few gyros at Santorini's (see map below), and hanging out at the Kirkland waterfront. This is particularly enjoyable when the weather is nice. Down at the waterfront there are several ducks who happily dispose of our molding hot dog buns. These ducks are very unabashed, and as you can see in the photos, they'll come right up to your feet and eat. In fact, because Ethan is a rather short little fellow, the ducks don't even have to wait for Ethan to throw the pieces of bread. They just have to wait until he has them in his hand. If you look closely at the third picture, you'll see that Ethan is backed up against the retaining wall. This occurred after the ducks realized they could reach his hands and snapped a few pieces from his fingertips. I think he handled it pretty well. This is one of our favorite times of the week.
